Imbolc 2021
1/2/21 21:58 Spring is coming! It's happening right in front of our eyes. In tiny ways and quiet ones.
I got up to walk this morning and the dog and I went down to the stream. The crows were just waking and making an awful din, the whole world seemed to be squawking and howling. There were snowdrops already out and the water is lower today than it has been all week after the floods. It was a nice start to the day.
I have marked the day with spring flowers, primulas in pots and a vase of daffodils in the house. We ate together tonight and I have had a candle lit beside me while I was writing - beeswax, so it smells like summer. I have begun spring cleaning and intend to do so throughout the month.
Other changes are happening in my life, as they do, some are happy, some are sad, some are both at the same time. Imbolc is a time for change, it is the end of winter and we need to embrace the coming summer. No matter how we fight it, change is inevitable - how much more peaceful to accept it and look for the new opportunities it brings. Although even I would be hard pressed to find the good in some recent political changes. We live in hope.
