Almost midsummer and we are so grateful that it is warm and that nature is catching up. Our garden is full of birds with their fledglings and it is immensely loud at 4 in the morning when it is already light and they are all out looking for breakfast. The light evenings and mornings are a gift, and although they make it hard to sleep (despite special curtain inserts) it does fill you with purpose and enthusiasm. It feels wrong to waste the gorgeous daylight hours slumped in front of the TV.

We are going to Scotland on holiday in a few weeks and I have looked to see the sunrise and sunset times - there are less than six hours without daylight on the earliest days of our break as we are on the north coast. Can't wait.
